Biography

Phirman teaches sketch comedy writing and improv, and has performed in two-person shows like Eye Candy (with Danielle Schneider), which went to the 2002 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and Special Delivery (with Paul Scheer), a parody of a British children's show in which postal workers rummage through people's mail in search of heartwarming lessons and edibles. She and Scheer won a 2004 Nightlife Award for Automatic Vaudeville,[1] called "the best variety show in New York City" by Time Out New York. Currently in Los Angeles, she's working on a two-woman show with Schneider titled Let's Get Awkward, as well as a five-woman improv show called Mother F#$@er.

Television and Film

Phirman was a cast member on Fox’s MADtv from 2000-2001, where she notably portrayed Angelina Jolie, Liza Minnelli, and Shirley Temple.[2] For three years, she hosted Movie Junky, a show (on the now-dissolved Burly Bear Network) in which she would wear a costume when interviewing celebrities (e.g., a Star Fleet uniform when interviewing an actor from a Star Trek movie or a cheerleader's outfit while covering a football movie).

She's been in several small films, including Terrorists and Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story, both released in 2004. Other TV credits include TALKSHOW with Spike Feresten, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Upright Citizens Brigade TV show, and VH1's Best Week Ever.

Voice Acting

Dannah voices the titular character well as her alter ego, Becky Botsford, in the PBS Kids series WordGirl,[3][4][5] as well as Penny, the side-kick to Amy Poehler's Bessie Higgenbottom in Nickelodeon's The Mighty B!.[6] She also provided the voice of Zaria on Nickelodeon's Tak and the Power of Juju, and was a contributing voice to Current TV's SuperNews show. She has recently provided voices for the video game Mass Effect as well as White Knight Chronicles: International Edition.

Writing Credits

Phirman has written episodes of The Mighty B and WordGirl, and the direct-to-video sequel to Beverly Hills Chihuahua with her partner Danielle Schneider. She is also currently working with Schneider on the script for the upcoming Boys Are Stupid, Throw Rocks at Them.

Personal life

Dannah (which is pronounced like "Donna") is married to musical comedian Mike Phirman (the "Phirm" half of the comedy duo Hard n' Phirm). They have one child, Milo Phirman, born September 4, 2009.
